Varietal ships with six guided coffee recipes across pour over, hybrid, concentrate, and immersion brewing. Each one includes built-in brew details and step-by-step timing, so you can go from setup to first cup without hunting for recipes elsewhere.

Pour Over · V60

4:6 Method

A classic pour over recipe that splits the brew into stages to help control sweetness, acidity, and strength. Great for brewers who want a more intentional, structured V60 workflow.

20g coffee 300g water 1:15 93°C

Steps

  1. Pour to 60g, then wait for drain.
  2. Pour to 120g, then wait for drain.
  3. Pour to 180g, then wait for drain.
  4. Pour to 240g, then wait for drain.
  5. Pour to 300g, then finish the brew.
Hybrid · Hario Switch

50/50 Hybrid Method

A Hario Switch recipe that combines percolation and immersion for a cup with both clarity and body. Ideal if you want a balanced, expressive hybrid brew.

20g coffee 320g water 1:16 94°C

Steps

  1. Open the switch and pour in circles to 160g.
  2. Close the switch and pour to 320g.
  3. Steep for 45s.
  4. Open the switch and let it draw down.
Hybrid · Hario Switch

Immersion Bloom Hybrid

A cleaner, shorter hybrid recipe that holds the bloom before releasing into a percolation finish. Built for clarity with extra saturation up front.

15g coffee 250g water 1:16.7 96°C

Steps

  1. Close the switch and bloom to 60g.
  2. Open the switch and pour to 250g.
  3. Let the brew draw down.
Hybrid · Pulsar

Pulsar Standard (17:1)

A coarser-ground Pulsar recipe focused on steady slurry height and controlled extraction. Best for brewers who want a highly repeatable hybrid cup.

25g coffee 425g water 1:17 94°C

Steps

  1. Pour to 75g with the valve open, then close it immediately.
  2. Bloom with the valve closed.
  3. Top up with the valve closed, pouring to about 1cm above the bed.
  4. Pulse pour with the valve open to 425g, maintaining a low slurry height.
  5. Give the brewer a gentle swirl.
  6. Let it drain to finish.
Concentrate · OXO Rapid Brewer

Soup

A turbo-shot style concentrate recipe for the OXO Rapid Brewer. Fast, punchy, and designed for a strong, compact brew.

20g coffee 100g water 1:5 94°C

Steps

  1. Pour 100g of water into the reservoir.
  2. Pump once to wet the grounds and bloom.
  3. Pump steadily, about 1 pump per second, until the brew finishes.
Immersion · Weber Bird

Weber Bird Immersion Brew

A full immersion recipe with a deliberate agitation phase and slow drawdown. Designed for a richer, fuller-bodied brew.

20g coffee 330g water 1:16.5 96°C

Steps

  1. Pour to 330g.
  2. Wait 30s.
  3. Agitate by pumping up and down 3 times.
  4. Steep for 180s.
  5. Finish with a slow drawdown.
Pour Over · Orea 01

Orea 01 Standard

A bright, juicy flat-bottom recipe designed for the Orea 01. Fast early saturation and controlled finishing pours help highlight acidity while keeping the cup clean and structured.

15g coffee 225g water 1:15 95°C

Steps

  1. Fast pour to 60g to soak.
  2. Centre pour to 140g.
  3. Slow circular pour to 190g.
  4. Slow centre pour to finish at 225g.
